This Privacy Notice explains how Ecom Mediatech ("we", "us", "our"), operator of the Backlink Monitor service (the "Service"), collects, uses, shares, and protects personal data about visitors, account holders, and their end users.
1. Controller
Ecom Mediatech is the data controller for personal data processed through the Service. You can contact us at any time via the contact page.
2. Personal data we collect
- Account data: name, email address, hashed password or federated login identifier.
- Project data: domains and backlink URLs you add or import.
- Usage data: pages viewed, features used, device type, browser, approximate location derived from IP.
- Support data: messages and attachments you send us.
- Billing data: processed by our Merchant of Record, Paddle. We receive limited data (name, country, last four digits of card, subscription status) but never full card details.
3. Purposes and legal bases
- To create and operate your account and provide the Service — performance of a contract.
- To crawl and monitor the backlinks you configure — performance of a contract.
- To send transactional emails (alerts, receipts, security notifications) — performance of a contract.
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and secure the Service — legitimate interests.
- To improve the Service and analyse usage — legitimate interests.
- To send marketing communications — consent, which you can withdraw at any time.
- To comply with legal obligations (tax, accounting, lawful requests) — legal obligation.
4. Sharing
We share personal data only with:
- Service providers / subprocessors that host, monitor, and support the Service (cloud hosting, database, email delivery, analytics, error monitoring).
- Paddle.com Market Ltd., our Merchant of Record, which processes payments, taxes, invoicing, refunds, and subscription lifecycle events.
- Professional advisers (legal, accounting) under confidentiality.
- Authorities where required by law.
5. International transfers
Where personal data is transferred outside your country of residence (including outside the UK/EEA), we rely on appropriate safeguards such as adequacy decisions or Standard Contractual Clauses.
6. Retention
We retain account data for as long as your account is active. When you delete your account, we delete or anonymise personal data within 30 days, except where longer retention is required for legal, tax, or fraud-prevention purposes.
7. Your rights
Subject to your local law, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, port, or object to the processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. To exercise any right, email us via the contact page. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. We aim to respond within one month.
8. Security
We apply appropriate technical and organisational measures including encryption in transit, encryption at rest for sensitive fields, access controls, and audit logging. No system is perfectly secure and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies to keep you signed in and to remember preferences. We use limited analytics cookies to measure aggregate usage. You can manage cookies through your browser settings.
10. Children
The Service is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.
